#188: Grow thy Faith

So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

Romans 10;17

In our last post, we established the fact that we are empowered by Faith. We saw that faith is trusting God and not your guts in every situation, it is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. Our ancestors, the Giants of Faith had this secret and so they built their life on a firm foundation that enabled them to be set above the crowd. It entails trusting God even when the situation says otherwise. We need faith to please God. This, therefore, tells us how important it is for us to build our faith.

And without faith, it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

Hebrews 11:6

Today, we will be looking at one of the ways through which we can build our faith. This is through the WORD of God. The beginning, progress, and strength of faith is by hearing the word of God. It takes genuine labour in the word of God to grow and strengthen our faith grow.

We have to understand that faith has unlimited capacity for growth. In many places in the Bible, we see where various measures of faith were mentioned. 'No faith' Mark 4;40, 'Little faith' Matthew 14:31, 'Great faith' Matthew 15:28, 'Such great faith' Matthew 8:10. This buttresses the point that our faith can grow from 'no faith' to 'such great faith'. This growth comes when we invest our time and energy in studying and hearing from God's word.

Our level of faith determines what we can command in life. If we want to be in charge of the occurrences around our lives, we have to build our faith. For it is written that it is done unto us according to our faith.

When he entered the house, the blind men came to him, and Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They said to him, “Yes, Lord.” Then he touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith be it done to you.”

Matthew 9:29

Action Point: Invest in building your faith as you deliberately take out time to read, study and meditate on God's word. Endeavour listen to messages from God's servants and attend Church fellowship meetings this week.
