221: MOVIE REVIEW - The Secrets of Jonathan Sperry

  The secrets of Jonathan Sperry is a 2008 Christian film directed by Rich Christiano. It is a movie about a man and how his fellowship with God affected a number of lives in his neighbourhood. The movie had its setting in the summer of 1970. While three friends: Dustin, Mark and Albert were making plans for what to do with their summer, they discover that Dustin has a crush on Tanya, a schoolmate who works in the diner owned by her dad. Dustin builds a relationship with Mr Sperry after mowing his lawn. Mr Sperry attended the same church with Dustin and was an old man at this time. He had lost his wife in an accident 4 years earlier. The dilemma of having a crush on a girl and being unable to express it became an issue for Dustin. Dustin, Albert and Mark paid Mr Sperry a visit and Albert, who wasn’t so good at keeping secrets made Mr Sperry know about Dustin’s feelings.   The Shack follows the story of Mack Mackenzie Phillips who grew up under a very abusive father and through the abandonment of a mother. His mother left because after he reported his father's abusive behavior to the Church Preacher, his father beat him very harshly having discovered. Mack was left alone to grow with his father for the rest of his life. But he poisons him when he is 13 years old. Mack grows up to be fulfilled adult, even churchgoing with a beautiful family. The beginning of the movie opens with Mack's family preparing for a camping trip. It is while on this camping trip that tragedy strikes and Mack's little daughter, Missy is abducted and killed by a serial killer. Her body is not seen. But her torn dress and blood are found in an abandoned shack. His older daughter Kate blames herself for what has happened. Patient Died, Mother Prayed, Patient came back to life- Dr Kent Sutterer BREAKTHROUGH is a 2019 movie based on the inspirational true story of one mother’s unfaltering love in the face of impossible odds. On Jan. 19th, 2015, 14-year-old John Smith and two friends ran out onto a frozen Missouri lake to play. Just teen guys having fun, not realizing the risk they were taking. The iced surface gives way and John and his friends fell through. His friends were able to get out but John when down into the deep for more than 15 minutes. He was rescued and taken to the hospital lifeless and pulseless. When all hope seems lost, Joyce refuses to give up. Her steadfast belief inspires those around her to continue to pray for John’s recovery, even in the face of a dire prognosis. Hebrews 10:39 " The Pilgrim's Progress - from the world to that which is to come " is a movie based on John Bunyan's book published in 1678 with the same title. It was written while he was inprisoned for sharing the gospel of Jesus. John lived in a little town in Bedfordshire called Bedford, England (1628 - 1688). This title is arguably the most popular print of all time in Christian literature besides the bible. It is commonly said that great heroes of the past like Charles Spurgeon binged this title.
