#138: The Guardrail

Image
Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. (Psalms 91:1 NLT) In these past days, while obeying the compulsory lockdown order by the Federal Government in compliance with the health expert's advice, there is a picture that keeps playing out in my mind: that "outside" is dangerous; there is an evil outside; and the safest place is "inside". On this premise, the word of God for today finds relevance. Both in these days of the covid 19 pandemic and beyond if God grants us long life to see the end of the pandemic. There is a fortress in God's presence. In the day of trouble you can run into it and be saved (Proverbs 18:10). But God's ultimate plan is not for us to run to this fortress only in the day of trouble because though we are in the world, we are not of the world (John 17:6-26). So we have to shield ourselves from the evil in the world habitually. God...

#137: Limit!

Image
“That couldn’t happen even if the Lord opened the windows of heaven!” said the officer assisting the king to the man of God. But Elisha replied, “You will see it happen with your own eyes, but you won’t be able to eat any of it!” (II Kings 7:2 NLT) In Genesis 18:13&14 and Jeremiah 32:27, God asked a question to challenged our faith: "I am the LORD, the God of all flesh; is anything too difficult for me?" In this statement, God declares Himself as a limitless being in abilities. It is as though He is telling us that if we can imagine it, then He can do it. The reason why many things will not work out therefore cannot be because of God. Today the LORD will be uncovering some of our misgivings about Him that limit Him when He is determined to move on our behalf. May God grant us understanding and grace to act appropriately in unbounded total faith. Amen. How many times have we heard the word of God and immediately, we start seeing the impossibility of i...

#136: Missing Out?

Image
"You will not die!" the serpent replied to the woman. "God knows that your eyes will be opened as soon as you eat it, and you will be like God, knowing both good and evil." Genesis 3:4-5 Consecration is a solemn dedication to a special purpose or service. There is always this requirement for anyone who wants to carry the glory of God. Though corrupt and sinful as we are, God has provided a way for us to live in His presence. Because unfortunately, we are in a sinful world too, surrounded by sinful people, this way will always bring a very thick separation line between the world and us in conduct and many other ways. God is holy. He is set apart and so must we. Everybody in scripture that moved with God was set apart: the priests, the prophets, even the whole nation of Israel. They were all different from the other people or nations. Today we see a trick the devil uses - to make us suddenly see our respective consecration as a cage that God has put us in a...

#135: Faith Does Not Give Up

One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up.   2  “There was a judge in a certain city,”  he said,  “who neither feared God nor cared about people.   3  A widow of that city came to him repeatedly, saying, ‘Give me justice in this dispute with my enemy.’   4  The judge ignored her for a while, but finally he said to himself, ‘I don’t fear God or care about people,   5  but this woman is driving me crazy. I’m going to see that she gets justice, because she is wearing me out with her constant requests!’”  6  Then the Lord said,  “Learn a lesson from this unjust judge.   7  Even he rendered a just decision in the end. So don’t you think God will surely give justice to his chosen people who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off?   8  I tell you, he will grant justice to them quickly! But when the Son of Man returns, how many will...

#134: Laments at Bethany

Martha said, "Master, if you'd been here, my brother wouldn't have died." John 11:21 How many times have we ever felt synced with Martha in this moment? When we acknowledge God's power and sovereignty to make things right, yet in despair, in agony, we wonder why God is not doing anything; why He has still done nothing about our situations. The same words of lamentations were uttered by Mary when she met Jesus in verse 32. LORD, if only you had been here, my brother would not have died! In these words, you feel deep anger at God. They knew what God could do in the person of Jesus. But it felt as though, for some reasons unknown, God decided to be silent, and their brother died (something bad) as a result of God's silence. It seemed too late. We find ourselves often at this point. Let us look at God's Word together to dig out hope, wisdom and strength for moments as these. God's plan for the world stands up, all His designs are made to last. Psalms 33:11...

#133: The Bethany Paradox

Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. So, when He heard that he was sick, he stayed two more days in the place where he was. John 11:5-6 (ERV). Dear LORD thank you for Your Word for today. Cause that at we look steadfastly at the perfect law of liberty briefly today that you shall transform us, taking us from one level of glory to another, even in the knowledge of Yourself and Your dealings with us. Amen. The paradox portrayed in our anchor text today is a very practical scenario that every believer comes across once in a while; probably often. The result is that we begin to ask questions in our heart, while trying to solve the paradox between what is presently happening to us and what we feel that God has been saying. Just as in our  previous post , we ask in our heart "LORD do You not care...?" while God on the other hand is asking, "Where is your faith?" The news of Lazarus' illness should have been a news to stir up urgency in Jesus...

#132: Where is your Faith?

Image
My brothers and sisters, consider yourselves fortunate when all kinds of trials come your way, for you know that when your faith succeeds in facing such trials, the result is the ability to endure. Make sure that your endurance carries you all the way without failing, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. But if any of you lack wisdom, you should pray to God, who will give it to you; because God gives generously and graciously to all. But when you pray, you must believe and not doubt at all. Whoever doubts is like a wave in the sea that is driven and blown about by the wind. People like that, unable to make up their minds and undecided in all they do, must not think that they will receive anything from the LORD. James 1:2-8 The letter from James is a collection of practical instructions written to all God's people scattered over the whole world (v1). Just like the other disciples who eventually went on to write epistles, they were inspired from the multit...
