#165: Trusting God’s plan and God’s way
Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to
prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a future and a hope.
It is quite easy for us to say we
trust God’s plan for our lives, even when we do not know exactly what this big
plan is. This is because we believe the words of our Lord from today’s
scripture. The question however is: “how much do we trust God’s way of
achieving this plan He has for us?” It is one thing to Trust His plan and
another to trust His way of achieving this plan. Trusting God is not just about
affirming our faith and proclaiming God’s ability to provide our needs. It is
about believing in God’s providence, that every experience we live is a step
towards the expected end He has designed for us. We might not particularly like
it. God’s way could involve casting our net to a particular side of the boat
like the disciples (Luke 5:4), or selling all that we have like the Rich Young Ruler
(Matthew 19:16-24), or even death such as sacrificing a precious one like Abraham
(Genesis 22:1-14).
Life is unpredictable; could be
sweet and beautiful this minute, the next minute it throws you a curveball. It
is in such times that it gets more important for us to trust both plan and way.
Like the man who built his house upon a
rock, God’s unchanging nature (Hebrews 13:8) is a solid foundation for us to
stand when the ground feels mushy and unsteady. Even when we do not understand,
Jesus says: “Trust me” (Proverbs 3:5-6). It is possible to sometimes miss the
fact that we do not trust God’s way when we are in fact convinced that we trust
His plan.
Rather than complain in our
hearts or with our lips, we must ask God for a heart of gratitude through it
all. He says we should give thanks in all circumstances (1 Thessalonians 5: 18). Remember Jesus Himself is The Way (John 14:
6a), and seeing that He has been this way before we even came along, we can be
sure to never go wrong trusting Him. The next time we say we trust God, we must
check our hearts to be sure that we trust both His plan and His way. Trust the
plan and trust the process. God bless you.
Trust the plan and the process...👌
