#112: The Salvation Project III

God said, "I’ve taken a good, long look at the affliction of my people in Egypt. I’ve heard their cries for deliverance from their slave masters; I know all about their pain. And now I have come down to help them, pry them loose from the grip of Egypt, get them out of that country and bring them to a good land with wide-open spaces, a land lush with milk and honey, the land of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite." (Exodus 3:7‭-‬8 MSG)

Thank God for another opportunity to glean at His feet. Today we will particularly be looking into scriptures to study the human condition and what God did to bring a lasting solution to it.

The first thing God will be helping us to understand is the need for a saviour. When we talk of the salvation project, the picture should be about a saviour and someone who needs to be saved. In the absense of any of these parties, salvation would not make sense. If everything is going on well, there is no need for a saviour.

Secondly, God is interested in our status. He constantly looks down upon us with love. From the scripture above, we hear God say that He has taken a good look at our afflictions. Again while He is looking down, He can hear the distress cry of sincere people who need salvation. In the absence of people who need salvation, there is not need for a saviour. If you are sincere today to cry out to God, He will hear you and come to you.

God went a step further and came down to help us. This is also expressed in the passage. It is very wonderful to understand that God came down to our level, down to our status, to help us (Phil 2:5-8). Hallelujah.

As slaves of sin, Jesus came down to help us. He took on Him our sins and paid the penalty. By this He dealt with sin once and for all. By His ressurection, He showed His power over death and gave us a new life.

Finally, how do we accept this gracioud help? John 3:16 says that God so loved us that He gave His only Son to us, so that whoever believes, will have eternal life. The word whoever is a very interesting pronoun. It means that it is possible for everyone to partake of this great help, but it is only going to be given to those who believe. If everybody believes, they will all be saved. As many as believe, will be saved. When we believe, we are born again. The new life in Christ's ressurection is ours.

Do you believe?

Prayer: LORD thank you for Your love upon me. Thank you for coming down to my rescue. Thank you for the sacrifice of Jesus. Today i believe in Your work on the cross. Give me the grace to live wholly for you.
