#64: Pray Instead.

James 5:13 KJV
Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.

God has not asked us to seek his face in vain. The prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective.

James 5:16 KJV
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Through Biblical history, we have seen the power of prayer. Examples may include;

Daniel.
When all the wise men of Babylon including Daniel, Meshach, Shadrach and Abednego were enlisted for execution because they couldn't know and interpret the King's dream, Daniel prayed instead.

Daniel 2:17-18 (MSG)
Daniel then went home and told his companions Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah what was going on. He asked them to pray to the God of heaven for mercy in solving this mystery so that the four of them wouldn’t be killed along with the whole company of Babylonian wise men.

Hannah
Hannah who was barren for years decided to pray Instead. She sought the face of the Lord and He harkened to her cry.

1 Samuel 1:10 KJV
And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the Lord , and wept sore.

Jabez
His mother named him Jabez because she bore him in pain. But Jabez prayed for a change and God listened to him.

1 Chronicles 4:10 KJV
And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.

In every situation we find ourselves, we shouldn't grumble or complain, we should pray instead.
