#34: MY BEST FOR HIS GLORY

And Jesus answered them, saying, “The hour is come that the son of man should be glorified. Verily, verily I say unto you, except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone; but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit…” (John 12:23-24).

Here we see our LORD illustrating the pathway to glory though the life cycle of a seed. It is one of the wonders of the world how a seed becomes a plant, especially when scientific investigations have shown that when the seed is buried, it actually dies and decays. Yet if it does not die, it will not become a tree, it will remain a seed. The characteristics of a tree are genetically embedded in its seed.

Because straight is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. (Matt 7:14)

This description once again is illustrating the way to life which everyone naturally wants to partake from, unfortunately, it doesn’t come on a platter of gold, and the easier way which is leading to destruction is what many finally tend to follow. Very few people trade on this path to life, and much more fewer people walk this way to the end, so there is always that tendency that the way to destruction would look so enticing because of the crowd that flock there.

One truth that God is bringing to us today is for us to give up our utmost, for His highest. Except a corn of wheat dies means there is no other way that this seed can bear fruit if it is not dead. This is a very big demand from God, yet it is not compared to the benevolent reward we get from burying and killing our corn of wheat. When we see the fruits, we will not even remember that the corn of wheat had to die.

God is ever ready to glorify Himself in you, but that corn of wheat must die. Could you take out time this week to seek the face of God? What could this corn of wheat be which the Lord is demanding of me today to die? For Christ Jesus it was His own life, for you it might be your time, your relationships, your certificate. Finally brethren, knowing that there be few that find the way to life, we must apply wisdom and ensure that we are numbered among the few.

THOUGHT: He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. (John 12:25)

Happy Sunday

Bassey Dawn.
