#32: THE POWER [AT WORK] IN US

I can do everything through him who gives me strength. Phil 4:19

Scriptures describes us as braches on the True Vine which is Christ. The branches are where the fruits are being displayed. Nevertheless we cannot appreciate the fruitful branch without acknowledging the vine which it is attached to. The moment the branch thinks that it is self-sufficient, and wanders off from the vine…in hours and days away, it becomes firewood material. The world is waiting for the manifestation of the sons of God. We are actually going to be at the stage of affairs, but we must constantly remember that there is a power working in us. If that power is absent, we become mere chaff.

One scripture that illustrates this is the story of Sampson and the Philistines:

Then she called, “Sampson, the philistines are upon you!” he awoke from his sleep and thought, I’ll go out as before and shake myself free,” BUT HE DID NOT KNOW THAT THE LORD HAD LEFT HIM. Judges 16:20

Sampson thought it was business as usual. He wanted to go out AS BEFORE. He was unaware of the fact that at the “before” time, the LORD was with him. We all know how the story ended. He was now used as a comedian to entertain the philistines. He died a comedian.

Now that we know that everything we are doing as a child of God is by virtue of a power that is at work in us, it should be our daily duty to assess ourselves that the LORD has not left us. If he has, we must not leave where we are until we have got him back. If we leave, we leave as chaff, we become light for the winds to toss us around.

REFLECTION: Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. DO NOT CAST ME FROM YOUR PRESENCE OR TAKE YOUR HOLY SPIRIT FROM ME. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and grant me a willing spirit, TO SUSTAIN ME. Psalms 51:10-12

Happy Sunday!!!
