#173: Gratitude

Psalm 100 Amplified Bible (AMP)
Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth.
Serve the Lord with gladness and delight;
Come before His presence with joyful singing.
Know and fully recognize with gratitude that the Lord Himself is God;
It is He who has made us, [a]not we ourselves [and we are His].
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
Enter His gates with a song of thanksgiving
And His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, bless and praise His name.
For the Lord is good;
His mercy and lovingkindness are everlasting,
His faithfulness [endures] to all generations.

·        Thank and praise God for everything in your life. Thank Him for even the difficulties. It is a sacrifice to do this. But He can turn troubles to triumph. "Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise -- the fruit of lips that confess his name" Hebrews 13:15.

·        Don't allow yourself to complain about anything. During the difficult times, be very careful to watch your tongue. Instead of complaining, think of ways you can verbally offer God the sacrifice of thanksgiving.

·        Don't compare yourself with others. Don't wish that your life was different. God knows what is best. The Bible says having a thankful heart is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. When we begin to thank God for what we have rather than comparing ourselves with others, it opens the door for God's blessings.

A thankful heart does not have room for jealousies, selfishness, greed, strife, anger, bitterness, etc…  A thankful heart is content and grateful. We have a Father in Heaven who can do anything and a savior Jesus who died to set us all free. These two things alone give us reason to lift our hands in praise and thanksgiving. So, don’t let Satan win by clouding your mind and blinding your eyes where you overlook the many things around you to thank God for. When you are down give God thanks. When you are joyful, give God thanks. In all circumstances, praise and thank God.  Let every breath praise his name and watch as the devil flees from you.

 "God smiles when we praise and thank Him continually. Few things feel better than receiving heartfelt praise and appreciation from someone else. God loves it, too. … An amazing thing happens when we offer praise and thanksgiving to God. When we give God enjoyment, our own hearts are filled with joy."  -- Rick Warren
