#159: Faith that Grows II

So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

Romans 10;17

Last week, we established the fact that Faith is every believer's spiritual breath for survival. It entails trusting God even when the situation says otherwise. We need faith to please God. This therefore tells us how important it is for us to build our faith.

And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

Hebrews 11:6

Today, we will be looking at one of the ways through which we can build our faith. The WORD of God. The beginning, progress, and strength of faith is by hearing. But it is only hearing the Word, as the word of God that will strengthen faith. It takes genuine labor in the word of God to have our faith grow.

One thing we have to understand is that faith has unlimited capacity for growth. In many places in the Bible, we see where various measures of faith were mentioned. 'No faith' Mark 4;40, 'Little faith' Matthew 14:31, 'Great faith' Matthew 15:28, 'Such great faith' Matthew 8:10. This buttresses the point that our faith can grow from 'no faith' to 'such great faith'. This growth comes when we invest our time and energy in studying and hearing from God's word.

Our level of faith determines what we can command in life. If we want to be in-charge of the occurrences around our lives, we have to build our faith. For it is written that it is done unto us according to our faith.

When he entered the house, the blind men came to him, and Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They said to him, “Yes, Lord.” Then he touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith be it done to you.”

Matthew 9:29

Action Point: Invest in building your faith as you deliberately take out time to read, study and meditate on God's word. Endeavour listen to messages from God's servants and attend Church fellowship meetings this week.
