#151: MY HELP

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
(Heb 4:16)

God is constant. If anyone is variable, then it’s us.
God always plays His part. What is left is that we play ours.
Help is always made available. It is we that determine whether or not we get access to it.

For one to access the help of God, God must have shown that person mercy.
So when we say that we’ve been helped by God, it’s because God has shown us His mercy; for in God’s mercy lies help.
Mercy has been made available but one must come to the throne to obtain it.
The problem is never from the help that is made available but from men that have failed to access that help.

There is a criteria however, which men must observe to access God’s help;

1. Recognizing where your help comes from.
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven (Matt 5:3).
These are men that are sentenced to a lifetime of neediness and dependency. Men that have realized that their only option is God. Men that have come to the realization of the word that says, "By strength shall no man prevail". Men who have emptied themselves that they may be filled afresh. Men who seek not just to go to heaven but bring heaven to earth. Men in whom the kingdom of God can find expression. Men whom by heaven’s help are empowered to dominate the earth and establish the kingdom as it is in heaven.
God has help and is always offering us help but do we need it?
If you are not in need of help, then you wouldn’t get any help
You must be needy to access help; for If we truly need help, then we would acknowledge that we’re in need and request for it.
It is only a man that acknowledges his insufficiency that can be helped by God.
If you say that you’re well despite the symptoms you have, then you have no need of a physician. You wouldn’t bother coming to him and as such cannot receive any help from him.
God makes us to recognize our deficiencies and realize our need of Him so that we can come to Him for help.

2. A cry to the helper for help.
Wherever there’s a cry, there’s mercy. A cry precedes mercy; A cry is the precursor of help.
It was said of a man like blind Bartimaeus who recognized his need for help and cried out, “Thou son of David, have mercy on me.” (Mark 10:47)
The children of Israel were oppressed for many years, but until their cry reached heaven, they could not access help. (Exo 3:9)
If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land (2 Chron 7:14).
Until you look up, you can’t access help. Until you cry out, you can’t access help.

3. Unwavering trust in the helper.
God wants us to look beyond looking up; He wants us to stay there and fix our gaze on Him regardless of the circumstances surrounding us.
That we wouldn’t just cry out at some point and get distracted by the strategies devised by the enemy to shift our focus, just as Peter whilst he walked on water, but that we’ll look up and keep looking and not take our eyes off (Matt 14:30).
Whenever we begin to think logical, our gaze has shifted. God doesn’t do logistics; He does things that are seemingly impossible in the eyes of men.
The currency is faith; for we walk by faith and not by sight (2 Cor 5:7).
That even though it doesn’t look like it, we still trust that He’s working and we look up and keep looking and not shift our gaze.

God is always available and ready to help us but do we need His help and are we ready to access it?

PRAYER:
Lord please help me recognize my insufficiency and deficiency.
Help me to look up to you always and keep looking and not shift my gaze.
Help me to trust you wholeheartedly even when it doesn’t look like it.
Amen.
