#93: The Power behind the Shadow

They even carried the sick out into the streets and laid them on stretchers and bedrolls, hoping they would be touched by Peter’s shadow when he walked by. They came from the villages surrounding Jerusalem, throngs of them, bringing the sick and bedeviled. And they all were healed.  Acts 5: 15-16 (MSG)

Surprisingly, the people were not instructed by the Apostles to lay the sick people by the road side. They just had a conviction that there was something in Peter that even his shadow could heal the sick. They had so much trust because they had seen the manifestation of the power of God through peter in the past. Going back, in Chapter 3, God’s power was demonstrated through Peter and John when a lame man was healed. This singular act got attracted people to Solomon’s Porch where Peter made it clear that it wasn’t by their own power.

Acts 3:12 (NIV) When Peter saw this, he said to them: “Fellow Israelites, why does this surprise you? Why do you stare at us as if by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk?

This point to the fact that the Power at work in peter, that which made the people to believe that his shadow could heal, was from a Source. Peter had tapped from that source and was manifesting it.
Acts 3:16 (NIV) By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through him that has completely healed him, as you can all see.

Jesus is the source of this great power. His death and resurrection is more than just an event, because the same power that brought back Jesus to life is the same power that Peter tapped into, the same is available for you to tap into it.

All you need do is surrender your life to Him as He manifests his Power through your life.
