#48: The Esau's Syndrome

Hebrews 12:16-17 (MSG)
Watch out for the Esau syndrome: trading away God’s lifelong gift in order to satisfy a short-term appetite. You well know how Esau later regretted that impulsive act  by then it was too late, tears or no tears.

A syndrome is a characteristic condition or pattern of behavior that tends to occur under certain circumstances. It's a group of events that mark a particular condition.

As God's children we have a sure inheritance. God has given us the GIFT of SALVATION ( a highly placed honour). In return we ought to live within the confines of the terms and conditions of the gift. Read #11:Terms and Conditions Apply.

The Esau's Syndrome is a constellation of events that involves; I. Trading away God's life long gift. II. In an attempt to satisfy an immediate need ( immediate cravings of the flesh). III. Regrets come afterwards.

We should try not to trade our eternal  inheritance for temporary pleasures. Let's live a life that won't make mockery of the Christian faith. Let's live a life that won't 'rubbish' the coming of Christ. Let's live to inherit our inheritance.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, Help us never to trade our birthright for worthless pleasure.

Comments

  1. God save us from the #Esau_Syndrome. The bible calls his actions profane. A profane person treats sacred things with contempt, disrespect, irreverence, or undue familiarity; blasphemous, impious. Hence, specifically; Irreverent in language; takes the name of God in vain; is given to swearing; blasphemous.

We must watch out for these characteristics in our lives.

God bless you Dr yD for this Word of Life
