#234: Seasons, Time and Precedence

Image
“To everything, there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven” Ecclesiastes 3:1 Since the beginning of time, providence has been in play throughout history in every circumstance and happenstance, we can see an invisible Hand at work Gently Softly slowly but surely turning the hand of time into action and reaction and making every piece of the jigsaw puzzle to come into place, so every scripture written find fulfilment in its due season and time. Come with me as we journey down history, and we recount how providence has come into play through time and new birth. At this point you may be wondering what new birth I speak of, some of you may have already guessed that we speak about the birth of CHRIST the MESSIAH of Israel, and the world at large. I feel I should point out that I am not here to point fingers but to establish providence and I hope that after this we will come to a better understanding of the times. There have been different schools of thought concerning the

#233: A New Family

Image
There is one body and one Spirit - just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call . (Eph 4:4) This month, we have been taking a journey through scriptures by God's grace to identify new paradigms that God was doing in history but anchored and initiated through the coming of Jesus. Christmas is a period that several believers celebrate the birth of Jesus; and at Sunday Mornings Blog, it is vital to meditate on the different things that Jesus's birth brought about. Today, we will explore how Jesus established the foundation for a new family. Arguably the classic reason why a new creation was necessary was to create a basis for a new family. Therefore remember that at one time you Gentiles in the flesh, called the uncircumcision by what is called the circumcision, which is made in the flesh by hand - remember that you were at that time separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and w

#232: A New Creation

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:1, 4, 14) Jesus said that the story of the law and prophets were speaking about Him (Luke 24:27). At Sunday Mornings Blog, we treasure this truth tenaciously and when we read through scripture, we look through the lens of seeing Jesus revealed through the pages, just as we are doing in the study this month. Last week, we identified God's intention to do a new thing as prophesied in Isaiah. As we understood from the text, this new thing was to make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. We identified Jesus as the fulfilment of this prophecy; because, in Him, God made a way in an "impossible" terrain. The old Testament story makes us understand the story of a Holy God who is interested in a

#231: A New Thing

"Behold, I am doing a new thing ; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert" Isaiah 43:19 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the LORD Jesus. We welcome you to another month on the blog. Through the weeks of this month, we will be studying the theme " A New Thing ". This would be a great expository follow-up to the theme of the previous month. May the entrance of His Word bring light and understanding to us. Amen. Today will serve as an introduction to the theme and in the coming days, we will expand on some key facets of the theme in the bible. The book of the prophet Isaiah can be divided into 2 broad sections (Judgement and Hope) Chapters 1-39 contain a lot of woes for Israel because of their covenant rebellion and their foreign allies with the nations instead of trusting God. But exile would not be the end of Israel's story, and that is the hope that Chapters 40-66 brings. Chapter

#230: Hope of Glory

Image
And we rejoice in hope of the glory of God because through Christ, we have also obtained access by faith into His grace (Rom 5:2) Quick Recap: We began our study on biblical hope this month by identifying hope as a reservoir of strength to keep going rather than give up, This is usually a result of meditating on and esteeming God's faithfulness in past times and experiences as an assurance that He is consistent to His character and nature. Biblical hope transcends beyond material and physical realities. Our hope is not primarily for our well-being, but a strength to pull through even when our present life is at stake; because God is good and our hope is focused on eternity with Him. Next, we saw how hope helped Salome, who was caught in adultery, to live a life worthy of her salvation. This is a testament to the fact that there is no hopeless situation from God's point of view. In other words, there is no circumstance that you can find yourself in that should make you feel that

#229: Benjamin's Letter - (Hope for a Tree Pt. 2)

Image
My dearest, I am glad that by the time you receive this letter, the assurance of my love would have been beyond any doubt in your mind. By this time, I am sure that what we share has reached a point where it cannot be broken carelessly or destroyed. Trust would have become the focus of who we are and who we wish to be. Love; our love forgives all things and is not boastful. Neither does it get angry or jealous. God is Love and God is the author of our Love. We have God between us. And it is for this reason that I feel heavily impressed upon me to write to you. You must know that between you and me, there must be forgiveness. If I love you, I must forgive you. Now from the depths of my heart, I desire to love you as Christ loves the Church and if I did so then before I know you or what you've done, I promise under God that I forgive it all because I really do love you. I must confess that your letter was a difficult read. I am writing to you, in response to your letter to share in t

#228: Salome's Letter - (Hope for a Tree)

Dearest mine, Just the thought of calling you mine roars my entire being to life! God's perfect gift to me. Yes, I'm smiling right into my notepad, the kind of smile that is so fulfilling. I am truly happy that in the end, I didn't miss you who is my right because indeed there were so many wrongs. You are proof of God's faithfulness, and if I certainly ever get to call you mine, then my joy will be complete indeed. I write to you with joy but then with deep sorrow, sorrow enough to cause trembling and I wonder if could truly follow through to the end with this letter. One would wonder how joy and sorrow could share the same space; well with time as we journey through this letter, all will unfold. As I said earlier, before you, came many wrongs, men so wrong they left me scarred. I write this letter not as the wholesome woman you might have dreamt of, not as a lady who guarded her purity with her life, not as one who never awoke love from its slumber. I have been d
